Call for Special Sessions

IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems (ISCAS) is a flagship conference in the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society. ISCAS 2019 will be held in Sapporo, Japan, from 26th May to 29th May 2019. The ISCAS 2019 organizing committee welcomes proposals of special sessions, which include in the technical program of the ISCAS 2019. The special sessions may be a forum for broadly discussing cutting-edge topics that focus on the particular interesting area in the circuits and systems research fields, which includes but are not limited to:

  • Society 5.0 - Human-centric Society
  • Sustainable Computing and Systems
  • Energy-aware Systems and Services
  • Disaster Prevention and Mitigation
  • Smart Systems for Automotive
  • Cyber-Physcial Systems
  • AI, IoT and Big Data Processing

Typically, each special session is composed of five (5) presentations. Note that all papers will be subject to the same peer review process as for regular papers.

The aim is to give the opportunity to ISCAS participants to focus their attention to what they consider more exciting and/or to concentrate their attendance to only part of the event.

Special Session Proposals

Please send proposals in pdf format to the Special Sessions Co-Chairs, special-sessions@iscas2019.org, by e-mail. The deadline of the Special Session proposals is 8th October, 2018. Following information is necessary in the proposal:

  • Session title and abstract
  • Rationale of the necessity for the Special Session at ISCAS 2019; the rationale should emphasize the novelty of the topic and/or its multidisciplinary features (if any)
  • Short biography of the session organizer(s)
  • List of (at least) five (5) papers including titles, authors with corresponding author contact information and short biography, and short abstract.

Important aspect in the evaluation of special session proposals will be the timeliness of the topic, quality/track record of the proposers and speakers, coherence of the session and expected value added to the overall technical program. Notifications of acceptance/rejection will be provided by 15th October, 2018.

After Special Session proposals are approved, manuscripts must be submitted to the special sessions and should conform to the formatting and electronic submission guidelines of regular ISCAS papers. Paper due is 15th October 2018. Then papers will undergo the same review process as regular papers. So the notification will be provided by 14th January 2019. It is the responsibility of the session organizers to ensure that their Special Session papers meet ISCAS quality standards. If, at the end of the review process, fewer than four (4) papers are accepted, the session will be cancelled and the accepted papers will be moved to regular sessions.
