Theme: when AI comes to our life

AI is attracting high attentions and it is expected that it would give tremendous impacts to our future life. However concerns and worries also creep into humans’ mind along with the advance of the AI technology. Taking the advantages of WiCAS event, we would like to welcome your attending, bringing questions, participating with the discussions and expressing your thoughts and comments. We hope that through the discussions in this WiCAS event, the limitation and the potential of AI can be better understood, so that we will be more comfortable accepting the coming of AI.

Title:
AI-Safety for Automated Driving
Invited Presenter:
Ms. Manager Qiu Li
AI Research & Innovation Division
DENSO Corporation, Japan
Abstract:

AI is one of the key technologies to realize automated driving. In fact, ability of state-of-the art deep learning is already beyond human perception, and has been widely used for object detection, scene understanding in real world. However, there are still a lot of problems to be solved. Because deep learning is data-driven technique, quality of data is key to realize safe-AI. Questions are; How much data is enough to train safe AI? How many miles of test drive is necessary to demonstrate the AI is safe? And how to certify AI is safe? These are just examples of questions DENSO is currently addressing on.

In my presentation, I would like to introduce the activities how DENSO has commercialized safe ADAS/AD products, such as Pre-crash safety system, Lane keeping system. After that, our activities to make safe-AI will be explained not only technical but non-technical activities, such as social acceptance.

(1-3) 18:00PM - 18:20PM

Title:
"Trust & Fairness" when AI comes to our life
Invited Presenter:
Prof. Pau-Choo (Julia) Chung
National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan
Abstract:

AI has been receiving considerable interests and will be continuously being so in the future. It is expected that it would have tremendous impact on our future life. However concerns and worries also creep into humans' mind by the advance of the AI technology. The images of AI's battle with human may not really create troubles, but the worries that AI would take over our decisions are indeed increased. Despite that we have a great anticipation of AI, up to this moment we are far from truly understanding what it is. Yet, AI may already enter into our life and involve with many of our decisions. At this moment, are we ready for accepting its coming into our life? Are we too intimidated by AI to accept? Or are we too careless to simply accepting AI? What issues are the obstacles to accept AI?

In this talk we will briefly highlight the issues of fairness and trust arising in AI models. We would also consider this talk as a forum for attendees to think over issues. We welcome your participating the talk, bringing up questions, discussing and expressing your thoughts and comments. We hope that through the discussions in this WiCAS event, the questions and concerns about AI’s threat would be highlighted and will help us understand more about AI so that its limitation and potential can be better understood. And the worries, if there exist, can be decreased to make us feel more comfortable to accept the era of AI.
